“I teach preschool and it has been a bright spot during the pandemic. My responsibility is to make the students feel secure; I view my classroom as a safe haven for them. I work at a Jewish school and we taught the students that wearing a mask is a ‘mitzvah’, which means ‘a good deed’. The kids all understand and for them, wearing a mask is not an issue. But it’s sad to see so many people being selfish and showing such disregard for others. I was on a ventilator until I was 3 but from then on, I have led a full life. Now suddenly, with Covid-19, I’m classified as ‘High Risk’. The ‘Sacrifice the Weak’ mentality is so frustrating; those people downplay someone’s death just because they are in the ‘High Risk’ category. No one should be sacrificed; every human life has value.”
